Paper Prototype

       My game is about the Allegheny Plateau, so that is what my partners and I are focusing on. Allegheny Plateau is one of the four geographic region's of West Virginia, and it is in our category of eighth grade, so that is why we are doing it on the Allgheny Plateau. My part in the game is to help my partners design it also gather information, so is my partners part. Some of our information came from learning in the West Virginia Studies class and on different WV sites. The reason that this game was chosen is because we are from West Virginia and we love to learn new things and facts that we don't know about the Allgheny Plateau. Flash is a major part in our game, because it has many resources such as animations, buttons, and designs that really make our game stand out. We haven't really had any trouble on our game yet,  but if I said something was hard it would probably be designing and drawing our game on flash the exact way that we want it. Paper prototype has really helped me in our game, and we all three plan on using it through out our game.

Non-Quiz game

       Today in globaloria we watched to videos, and the videos showed one quiz game and one non-quiz game. In my partners game and I, it will not be a quiz. Quiz games include like questions before playing the game. One video that we played and watched was fun because it wasn't quiz, you read a passage before playing the game, then you got to play the game. Another video that we watched wasn't fun, because it was a quiz, and was very boring. Although our game will not be like that, in our game you will have to read about our topic, then choose a game to play, kinda like what level you want to play.  We all can't wait to get our game finished because it is going to be fun to play, because it won't be a quiz game. Our game will be posted on our team page for everyone to see, judge it, after playing, and tell us what you think, is it a quiz game and boring to playor non-quiz and great to play.

Globaloria now! : )

          Globaloria now is great, we have went over alot from last year to refresh, but on the way we have learned more things then what we did last year. Globaloria has been fun this year already and I can't wait to get on in with our game about the Titanic. I think the only thing that I really need to be working on is the updated flash. There is no big or major thing that I need to work on but the new flash, there probably are some small things that I don't know how to do, but in that situation I will learn them on the way of working on my new game. Going on about my wiki page, it isn't the best that there is but I still like it and think that it is pretty, I have to work on getting my color on there but other than that I have had fun uploading the pictures on there. My partners are great too, I am so glad that I got them. They help me out alot and we have alot in common so our game will be easier to make because we can agree on many things. I think that my learning abilitiy is getting stronger and higher the more I am on globaloria, and I plan on to keep it improving.

Single Story! : )

A "Single Story" is someone that has an opinion on your community, if they think that one person is not a good person then they say the community isn't good, but if they give an opinion that the person is a good person, then they would say that the community is good. Although most single stories that I have heard about my community is not that good. Just because of the person who they mave know of or have talked to. The community that I know the most that people talk about alot is Morgantown. Morgantown is a good community and it has great people in it. I don't thik that I have heard a bad single story on Morgantown. I have heard a few single stories on my comunity, and most of them I don't agree to. I think that our community is good. So I think that the person who is telling a single story on our comunity that is bad, is missing a lot. People could learn alot and tell a single story if they played a game about a community and a person who lives in it, I think. Maybe if I played a game on a community or if I went and visited that community and got to talk to different people, I would learn more about what a single sory is, and if that community is good or bad. What do you think?

Imaganing your game!! : )

WHO are you designing your game for? (Include the player's age, abilities, and prior knowledge of your topic.)
For other students in the seventh and sixth grade to play a get ideas for them, maybe they could understand the genre of historical better, maybe they would want to make their game about the titanc like my team and I.
WHAT will your game teach the player about your topic? (Be specific!)
Our game will teach the player about the titanic and give them facts, maybe the new ones about the titanic that they didn't know about.

How will this setting add to the learning experience?
Our game will take place in North Atlantic Ocean. Anyone who wants to play a eighth grade level game can play ours. It may seem more real to the player and help them understand the titantic better.
HOW does your game world teach the player about your topic?
What happens in the world that helps the player learn?
How does the player use what they learned to make something happen in the game?
The player will be driving a boat their self and the boat will adventually start to sink, then it will be up to you to get the people on board safe to land.
WHY is a game a better way of understanding your topic than a quiz?
 Because you are acutally playing and doing it yourself instead of just answering questions that you may or may not know the answer to.

Finished Game

  Horse Tumbling is the name of my game. It is about a horse trying to get to the farmer who lost his own horse. You have to go through four levels to rescue the farmers horse and take it home, although you are a horse youself. We have had alot of fun and exciting in this game, but we have had some days were we had alot of trouble. It was really fun making the game and I hope to be in Globaloria next year. Our game Horse Tumbling is completely finished. Our game skelton and all of it is finish. Our team page has our game uploaded, and all of our files also. We still try to fix some of our drawings though, to make it look better. But I hope you play it and if you do I hope you like it and enjoy it.

Internet Safety

Internet Safety rules are very important for everyone to follow. You should always make sure that the website is safe for you to get on like the website myglife.org. You should also never put your full name on the internet, because people can hurt you in many different ways. You should never get on websites that you have to put your information on about you life because some people can get it and hurt you. It is also very important if you don't talk to people that you don't know because if you do they may find out were you live and follow were you go and can hurt you. You should also let an adult get on the website and check it out before you get on it. Always remember to follow internet safety rules and everything will be alright.
