The Do's & Don't of Presenting! :)

    In Globaloria today we watched a video about students persenting and they told us what to do while presenting and they also told us what not to do while presenting. The students decribed every step inch by inch and it was very informational. When I say every step I mean that there is many certain things that you need to make sure you do or say in a presatation but there is also many things that you need to make sure you don't do or say. If you say the wrong thing it could mess up your presatation or it could get you off of track and make you stumble over your words. Presenting is very important and something you should always remember to do is look at the judges and make sure not mumble and get nervous because there is nothing to get nervous about. Mumbling is the very important thing you should make sure you don't do, because the audience or the judges may not be able to hear you, and they would grade you good on your presenting. Another thing that is important that you need to make sure you don't do is not to bring your paper right in front of your face nor you shouldn't hide your face with your paper. Using big words will make your prsentation better and more intertaning. Speaking loud and clearly will also help your presenting. Presenting is very important you just need to remember the things that you need to do and what not to do, and if you follow them rules I bet your presatation will be the greatest ever.

Thanksgving!!! : )

       
                  Wow, it's almost thanksgiving, and I can't wait! Thanksgiving is full of joy, and I am so thankful for it. This week is our last week of school for Sandy River then I will get to spend a whole week with my family and friends for Thanksgiving. I am so thankful to have friends like I do and the family that I have. Thanksgiving is going to be different this year but it is still going to be full of love a joy. The change is good because my family and I get to go to my aunt's house to have our Thanksgiving dinner, instead of them coming to our house. It is going to be so fun because we get to spend all night with each other and go shopping on Friday. Thursday is going to be the best though, because we are having dinner with each other and some of our family friends is getting to come also. I am just so thankful to have them people in my life to love and cherish. Oh and don't forget about my church family, we give out food to the families that don't have a lot and can't buy a meal for their Thanksgiving dinner. I am just so thankful to have church family as great as I do, and to be able to help with a helping hand. Thanksgiving is just so awesome and I can't for it to come around every year.

Mini Game

          Well, the mini game wasn't the easiest or the funniest, but in the end it was pretty good. I wasn't the best uploading it, and getting the code, so I had one of my globaloria friends to help me. She was excited to help me and learn me how to upload the mini game. The way that my friend Hannah helped me, she gave me advise that showed me and explained to me how to get the code and upload it. After that it was a little better and I understood it more. I am so glad to have a friend like her to explain things to me, and in the end the mini game wasn't so bad after all.

Team Work!!

        My team members is great. We agree on most of everything, although there are some tiny things we argue over. Arguing is a habit for sisters though, yes I said sisters. My partners ended been my bestfriends, sister, and other half. So when we argue it's because we are sisters. Although we have improved alot from the begining of the year, I just think that we have got older though. On our game we agree on almost everything, and we try and give each other the same amount of work to do on our game. So nothing really is a problem now. I am so thankful to have friends as great as them and to have them as my partners. I wouldn't change anything for them and I love them to death. And been besfriends I think that our game is going to be great.

Challenges in flash

       Although flash is fun and very helpful to our game, it is hard and a big challenge sometimes. Buttons is the easiest I think also creating scences with different key frames. Animations and coding is the biggest challenges to me and it can make our game slow sometimes because I have difficulties with them. Finding the codes is easy but the hard put is setting it up. Setting up the buttons is really fustrated to me. After practice and learning more about the coding I think that we could set it up great in our game. The one thing is, learning how to set them up. Overall I think we will get good with it, and our game will come together. Flash in awsome and I love to work with it and even with the challenges that come with it.

Paper Prototype

       My game is about the Allegheny Plateau, so that is what my partners and I are focusing on. Allegheny Plateau is one of the four geographic region's of West Virginia, and it is in our category of eighth grade, so that is why we are doing it on the Allgheny Plateau. My part in the game is to help my partners design it also gather information, so is my partners part. Some of our information came from learning in the West Virginia Studies class and on different WV sites. The reason that this game was chosen is because we are from West Virginia and we love to learn new things and facts that we don't know about the Allgheny Plateau. Flash is a major part in our game, because it has many resources such as animations, buttons, and designs that really make our game stand out. We haven't really had any trouble on our game yet,  but if I said something was hard it would probably be designing and drawing our game on flash the exact way that we want it. Paper prototype has really helped me in our game, and we all three plan on using it through out our game.

Non-Quiz game

       Today in globaloria we watched to videos, and the videos showed one quiz game and one non-quiz game. In my partners game and I, it will not be a quiz. Quiz games include like questions before playing the game. One video that we played and watched was fun because it wasn't quiz, you read a passage before playing the game, then you got to play the game. Another video that we watched wasn't fun, because it was a quiz, and was very boring. Although our game will not be like that, in our game you will have to read about our topic, then choose a game to play, kinda like what level you want to play.  We all can't wait to get our game finished because it is going to be fun to play, because it won't be a quiz game. Our game will be posted on our team page for everyone to see, judge it, after playing, and tell us what you think, is it a quiz game and boring to playor non-quiz and great to play.

Globaloria now! : )

          Globaloria now is great, we have went over alot from last year to refresh, but on the way we have learned more things then what we did last year. Globaloria has been fun this year already and I can't wait to get on in with our game about the Titanic. I think the only thing that I really need to be working on is the updated flash. There is no big or major thing that I need to work on but the new flash, there probably are some small things that I don't know how to do, but in that situation I will learn them on the way of working on my new game. Going on about my wiki page, it isn't the best that there is but I still like it and think that it is pretty, I have to work on getting my color on there but other than that I have had fun uploading the pictures on there. My partners are great too, I am so glad that I got them. They help me out alot and we have alot in common so our game will be easier to make because we can agree on many things. I think that my learning abilitiy is getting stronger and higher the more I am on globaloria, and I plan on to keep it improving.

Single Story! : )

A "Single Story" is someone that has an opinion on your community, if they think that one person is not a good person then they say the community isn't good, but if they give an opinion that the person is a good person, then they would say that the community is good. Although most single stories that I have heard about my community is not that good. Just because of the person who they mave know of or have talked to. The community that I know the most that people talk about alot is Morgantown. Morgantown is a good community and it has great people in it. I don't thik that I have heard a bad single story on Morgantown. I have heard a few single stories on my comunity, and most of them I don't agree to. I think that our community is good. So I think that the person who is telling a single story on our comunity that is bad, is missing a lot. People could learn alot and tell a single story if they played a game about a community and a person who lives in it, I think. Maybe if I played a game on a community or if I went and visited that community and got to talk to different people, I would learn more about what a single sory is, and if that community is good or bad. Imaganing your game!! : )

For other students in the seventh and sixth grade to play a get ideas for them, maybe they could understand the genre of historical better, maybe they would want to make their game about the titanc like my team and I.

Our game will teach the player about the titanic and give them facts, maybe the new ones about the titanic that they didn't know about.

How will this setting add to the learning experience?
Our game will take place in North Atlantic Ocean. Anyone who wants to play a eighth grade level game can play ours. It may seem more real to the player and help them understand the titantic better.
HOW does your game world teach the player about your topic?
What happens in the world that helps the player learn?
How does the player use what they learned to make something happen in the game?
The player will be driving a boat their self and the boat will adventually start to sink, then it will be up to you to get the people on board safe to land.
WHY is a game a better way of understanding your topic than a quiz?
 Because you are acutally playing and doing it yourself instead of just answering questions that you may or may not know the answer to.

Finished Game

  Horse Tumbling is the name of my game. It is about a horse trying to get to the farmer who lost his own horse. You have to go through four levels to rescue the farmers horse and take it home, although you are a horse youself. We have had alot of fun and exciting in this game, but we have had some days were we had alot of trouble. It was really fun making the game and I hope to be in Globaloria next year. Our game Horse Tumbling is completely finished. Our game skelton and all of it is finish. Our team page has our game uploaded, and all of our files also. We still try to fix some of our drawings though, to make it look better. But I hope you play it and if you do I hope you like it and enjoy it.

Internet Safety

Internet Safety rules are very important for everyone to follow. You should always make sure that the website is safe for you to get on like the website myglife.org. You should also never put your full name on the internet, because people can hurt you in many different ways. You should never get on websites that you have to put your information on about you life because some people can get it and hurt you. It is also very important if you don't talk to people that you don't know because if you do they may find out were you live and follow were you go and can hurt you. You should also let an adult get on the website and check it out before you get on it. Always remember to follow internet safety rules and everything will be alright. 

Math games

                                                Today children play math games almost every day, but the biggest part of them children say the math games are boring. In my opinion there are many boring math games, but I also have many that I like to play and that's not boring to me. They could make some games exciting and brillant to play. Like maybe put more action in it, or more music. Different children like different things, so if you put more different things in the math game, children may play it more and like it more. In the website http://www.mangahigh.com/en_gb/ I played flower power. I did learn some math in it, but it wasn't so fun. It could have been better. Not all math games make math motivation, although some math games do. In my game Horse Tumbling, we may put more math in it, but if Lakin and I do that then, we will have to put more sounds in it, to make it better and funnier to play. We also may put more action in our game. What do you think?

Flash in Globaloria ( :

    I like globaloria, it is fun and interesting to me. Although it can be difficult sometimes. Flash is really exciting to me. There are many things that I like about flash. It helps me with my game alot. We get alot of our game accomplished, with flash. Our game has three levels one, two and three, and flash has helped us out alot to make them levels. I think that our game is going to be fun to play after we get it finshed. And I love that flash is avalable, because it helps us alot. Having our levels in our game, I think has made us step up alot and do our work. At the begining of the year I didn't know how to do anything in flash, but now I have stepped up and I have learned alot in flash. We also have uploaded files to our team page, so go check them out. Now I know how to work in flash with our Horse Tumbling game, and I can't wait to get it done, so that I can play it. I hope that you play it, and enjoy our game.

Games!!

           Educational games are very popular. Many students all around the world play them, even myself. I play study island all the time. Study Island is one of my favorite educational games. I have learned alot of of study island, such as decimals, percents, degree, division, mulitply, and etc. I have also talked to students that play study island and another educational game "cool math". There are many games on there that's exciting to play and some of the games on there aren't very educational. Cool math is also one of my favorite games, and I think any educational games is great for a student. Students learn alot from games. I also think that educational games can create a learning atmosphere, for the future children and students. I hope that the educational games that is being created right now in globaloria class will help the students in a few years learn. I hope they learn alot about math and learn what they want to and need to.

What I like about my game!

      My partner and I have made a game called Horse Tumbling. There are some parts and scences that we have had trouble with, or we dislike. Some of the parts that I like is that it is a horse game, and I love horses and I enjoy to riding them. I also like that me and my partner work together great and we agree on almost everything, but sometimes we make changes. We are having trouble with making our game not a quiz game, but I think we are passing that level. That is really the only thing that I don't like about my game, everything else is alright. I like that we are working together on our game, and we agree on everything. Lakin and I enjoy having a horse game and we lke that it takes place in a forest. Although we still are making changes, I hope there good changes.

Flash

This week in Globaloria my partner Lakin Hagerman and I worked on flash. We worked on our scenes to make them better and we change them because of our quiz game we wanted to change it all. We even made new buttons, although we have had a little bit of trouble but nothing major. The problem is when we make a swf file then it flashes instead of slowing down, even we have the stop thing in the code. We are getting that fixed though today. When ever we get all of our scenes finished we will upload them to our team page. It won't be to long before we do that because we have made great progress this week, and I hope it continues every other week!! Now on our drawings, they are good but not perfect, we try our best on drawing the horses, the background, and etc. We have got a few pictures of google.com but it is just like a pie and only very few of them. I am very happy that we have made great progress though! ( :

Globaloria!

   My partner Lakin Hagerman and I work together great, well I don't think only we work together good, my whole class does. We made our game up together and agreed on it all together. Lakin and I get our work done and we try our best to do it right. We struggle on it if we get it done right and if it is done right we still ask if it is over and over. Our team page is updated. We have all of our files on it and extra's too. My personal opinion about globaloria is I think it is interesting and it's very fun to. I hope that I get to do it next year. I like the way we have to make our game. I also love globaloria!

Game Presetation

We had our game presetations Tuseday the 1st of Febuary. My game is about horses and you have to resuce other horses in a maze forest type. Our game is like a quiz game, so after we presented our game we had a question. We asked how can we make our game not a quiz game? Before our pesetation our game was just a forest that you had to go through on a horse and at the end you had to make a graph, but now we have a maze game. We made it a maze so that we could see if that would help us to make our game not a quiz game. We are still working on our game to fix it from a quiz game. Other than that they didn't have many questions, all they asked is how our game went. So now we are making our game not a quiz game. That was our main problem. And our team page is updated and we are at the point were we should be.
